A warm, humid, and breezy day will end with a bang as a cold front triggers a line of showers and thunderstorms late this afternoon.

After showers and thunderstorms overnight, most of the day will end up dry. Sunshine will mix with clouds through the morning and first part of the afternoon.

Meanwhile, south and southwest winds will blow at near or just above 10 mph. A few gusts over 25 mph will be possible.

Warm, humid air will move in with afternoon highs reaching the mid, or if enough sun shines, upper 80s. On top of that, dewpoints will rise to near 70 degrees, the muggiest it has been so far this year.

This will set the stage for a line of thunderstorms to move into the area during the latter afternoon hours. Damaging winds and dangerous lightning will be the primary threat with these storms. Large hail and even an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out, either.

The storms will quickly depart and skies will clear this evening. Temperatures will remain warm in the evening, sitting around 70 degrees. Eventually, temperatures will cool slightly, reaching an overnight low in the mid 60s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Friday: Some sun. A few showers. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Saturday: Morning clouds. Afternoon sun. Morning lows in the low 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 60s.

Sunday: Mostly sunny. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 60s.

Monday: Sun and clouds. Maybe an evening thunderstorm. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.
