The Village of Homer, along with the Cortland County Food Project’s Subcommittee and Seven Valleys Health Coalition, will be hosting two community input meetings in regard to the impending linear park.
The first community input meeting is slated for Thursday, July 14 from 4:30-6 p.m. at Durkee Memorial Park. The meeting will also include a foraging walk.
The second meeting will take place on Thursday, July 28 from 5-7 p.m. at the Homer Town Hall. This meeting will include a design review of the linear park.
Village of Homer’s Linear Park is an edible-landscaped park in the works that is slated to be created in 2023. According to village mayor Hal McCabe in the past, the park will include a variety of nut trees, fruit trees and other edible bushes and plants for the community to choose from.
McCabe also noted there will be signage to guide people throughout the park, and there will be something available to eat all four seasons.
