Blustery southwest winds will give temperatures a boost today.

A south wind picked up overnight and will increase further this morning as it turns to the southwest. By the midday and afternoon, wind speeds will be just over 10 mph with gusts as high as 30 mph.

The wind will combine with ample sunshine this morning and a mix of sun and fair weather clouds this afternoon to allow the atmosphere to heat up significantly.

No rain is expected from any of the clouds.

Temperatures will quickly rise through the morning and will top out in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees this afternoon.

Humidity will be slower to increase, with dewpoints remaining in the 50s for much of the day. The low dewpoint will keep the calculated heat index values nearly identical to the actual temperature.

Tonight, clouds will persist, though the wind will slacken. Temperatures will fall into the 70s initially, but should eventually slip into the upper 60s overnight.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Tuesday: Sun, clouds, and scattered showers or storms. Morning lows in the upper 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.

Wednesday: Sun and clouds. Maybe a stray shower. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the upper 70s.

Thursday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Friday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the low 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.
