A cold front will move through the region today with a few showers and storms.

Rain will be possible throughout the day today, but for the majority of the time, it will actually be dry.

The best chances for rain will be early this morning and again during the early to mid afternoon hours.

This morning, an initial batch of rain and thunder is moving through the broader region. A few of these showers and storms may make it into Cortland County for a brief shot of rain.

Then, this afternoon, a line of thunderstorm will try to develop overhead as the cold front moves through. The window of opportunity for these storms is small as they will quickly move off to the east. If they do not pop up quick enough, they may miss out on Cortland County all together.

Outside of these time periods, just small isolated showers or storms are possible. Some sun should poke out between the clouds, especially during the late morning and midday hours.

Winds will start out from the southwest with speeds around or just over 10 mph. The wind will shift to the west, then northwest through the day.

Temperatures will make a push toward 85 degrees before the front arrives. Afternoon temperatures will retreat to around 80 degrees by dinnertime.

Tonight, the chance for stray showers will persist as temperatures cool into the 60s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Wednesday: Sun and clouds. A few late showers or storms. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs near 80.

Thursday: Sun and clouds. Maybe a stray shower. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Friday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the low 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Saturday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the low 50s. Afternoon highs in the low 80s.
