The Village of Homer will participate in the 39th annual National Night Out event on Tuesday, Aug. 2.

The event will take place on the Village Green off of South Main Street from 4-9 p.m.

According to a description provided by the Village of Homer, National Night Out promotes “police-community partnerships, crime, drug, and violence prevention, safety, and neighborhood unity.”

The theme of National Night Out this year is “Give Neighborhood Crime and Drugs a Going Away Party.” The event put together by the Village will be a family-oriented get-together, with various competitions and a live band.

The Village of Homer will include all first-responder agencies in Cortland County, noting that “it takes more than one department for a community to be safe.”
