High pressure will remain overhead while an active weather pattern develops to our south.

A weather system will track through the Ohio Valley and Mid-Atlantic region today. As it does, clouds will spread north into our region, despite the high pressure system overhead.

Most of these clouds will be thin, but they should filter the sunshine at times. Fair weather clouds will also develop, as usual, during the daytime heating cycle.

There may be just enough energy in the atmosphere to touch off one or two stray showers or small thunderstorms. The chances for rain are minimal, though.

There may be some periods of thinner clouds or full-on sunshine as well.

Winds will be nearly calm with just a whisper of a south wind. With wind speeds under 5 mph, topographic influences may change the wind direction on a localized scale.

Humidity will remain low with dewpoints in the 50s. Afternoon highs should break into the low 80s. Evening temperatures will gradually fall through the 60s with an overnight low around 60 degrees.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Sunday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows near 60. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.

Monday: Rain and thunder possible. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Tuesday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.

Wednesday: Sun and clouds. Evening thunderstorms possible. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the upper 80s.
