An area of low pressure will bring some much needed rain to the area today.

Steady rain moved in overnight and will continue into the first part of the morning. By mid-morning, the steady rain will taper off to on and off showers.

Showers will persist this afternoon, and a few thunderstorms could pop up. This will especially be possible if some sun works out between the showers in the late morning and early afternoon.

If any storms do fire, there is a small chance for some strong thunderstorm winds.

Even without thunderstorms, a half inch to one inch of rain should fall. Any thunderstorms could lead to locally higher amounts.

Temperatures will not move much thanks to the rain. Highs in the mid to upper 70s are expected, depending on how much sun shines this afternoon.

Southwest winds will blow at up to 10 mph with gusts around 25 mph.

Tonight, scattered showers will continue to linger through about midnight. Then, drier air will move in, and skies will start to clear.

Evening temperatures will stick close to 70 degrees, but overnight lows will drop to the mid 60s after midnight.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Tuesday: Sun and clouds. Maybe a stray pop up afternoon shower or storm. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.

Wednesday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the upper 60s. Afternoon highs near 90.

Thursday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Morning lows near 70. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.

Friday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the low 80s.
