A fine summer day is ahead for Cortland County with warm temperatures.

Sunshine will be plentiful this morning but will gradually mix with some fair weather clouds. Small puffy cumulus clouds will continue to develop into the afternoon.

Late in the afternoon, a subtle impulse of atmospheric energy will drop southeast across the region. This feature will touch off a few isolated showers.

Most areas will not see rain, though. The few areas that do see a shower will only see a brief period of rain. A couple rumbles of thunder may also be possible.

Winds will be from the west and northwest today with speeds around 10 mph. Top gusts will come in around or just over 25 mph.

Afternoon highs should push into the mid 80s. Dewpoints will be in the low and mid 60s, so it will feel a little muggy.

Tonight, skies will be partly cloudy with evening temperatures falling through the 70s. A few more stray showers will be possible overnight as a second small feature moves through.

Overnight lows should be into the mid 60s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Wednesday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs near 90.

Thursday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Morning lows in the low and mid 70s. Afternoon highs in the low 80s.

Friday: Sun and clouds. A few stray showers and storms. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.

Saturday: Sun and clouds. A few stray showers and storms. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.
