A cold front will move through the area today, taking some of the edge off the high temperatures.

It is still warm and muggy this morning ahead of the front. Temperatures will quickly rise from lows in the 70s into the 80s

Showers will be possible at any time this morning, but most of the time it will be dry. Showers will become more numerous during the late morning and early afternoon hours but will still probably remain scattered at best.

As a result, it is no guarantee that any given location will actually see rain today as the front moves through. Those that do see some rain will not see much, though some rumbles of thunder may accompany the showers.

Southwest winds will blow at up to 10 mph through the morning hours with gusts reaching 25 mph. The wind will turn to the west during the midday and early afternoon, but speeds will not drop until the second half of the afternoon.

High temperatures will reach the mid 80s during the early to mid afternoon before dropping slightly later in the day. Any rain will also help knock temperatures back.

Tonight, skies will be mostly clear and temperatures a bit more comfortable. Look for overnight lows to reach the low and mid 60s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Friday: Sun and clouds. A few stray showers and storms. Morning lows in the low and mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.

Saturday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs near 90.

Sunday: Showers and thunderstorms possible. If not, sunny and hot. Morning lows near 70. Afternoon highs at least in the upper 80s, but possibly as hot as the mid 90s.

Monday: Morning showers. Some afternoon sun. Morning lows in the upper 60s. Afternoon highs near 80.
