Another hot day is ahead, possibly accompanied by several chances for thunderstorms.

The first period to watch for thunderstorms will be during the mid and late morning hours. Thunderstorm leftovers from last night could work their way into the region if they hold together.

If this happens, a band of storms and rain, possibly with strong winds, would quick move through this morning. If not, skies will just be a mix of sun and clouds.

The next chance will come in the latter half of the afternoon. As temperatures rise, a few pop up thunderstorms will be possible. Winds aloft are strong enough to organize any storms that develop, so winds and hail will be a threat.

Rain and thunderstorms will increase this evening and especially overnight. A severe threat may linger into the first part of the evening and cannot even be discounted through the overnight. The chances for severe weather will decrease as the night goes on, though.

Exactly how hot it gets today will depend on these chances for storms. If there is little to no rain and sunshine rules the daytime hours, highs near or above 90 degrees will be likely. Even if there are multiple rounds of storms, though, highs should at least reach the mid 80s.

Not counting any strong thunderstorm winds, it will still be a blustery day. Southwest winds will blow at near or over 10 mph with gusts of 25-30 mph. The southwest wind will persist overnight, but with lighter speeds.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Monday: Morning showers. Some afternoon sun. Morning lows in the upper 60s. Afternoon highs near 80.

Tuesday: Sun and a few clouds. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the upper 70s.

Wednesday: Sun and clouds. Maybe a late shower or storm. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.

Thursday: Scattered showers and storms. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the low 80s.
