Cortland County COVID-19 Wrap-Up for Tuesday, August 9

Here is a breakdown of COVID-19 numbers in Cortland County from Aug. 1-7. It is based on recorded information from the Cortland County Health Department and the New York State Department of Health.

According to the county health department as of Aug. 5, the level of COVID-19 transmission in Cortland County is low. For the week of Aug. 1-7, there were 96 positive cases, four hospital admissions, and one new death.

As of Aug. 7, there have been 15,310 total cases counted, 716 total hospitalizations and 127 deaths in the county. According to the state’s current COVID-19 tracker, the 7-day average for percentage who test positive and cases per 100K is 10% and 17.9, respectively.

The recent percentage of county residents fully vaccinated is 60%, with 63.3% of residents that are 5 years-or-older reported as fully vaccinated. Additional county numbers show that 58.8% of county residents are fully vaccinated with a booster shot.
