A quiet, comfortable late summer day is ahead for the area behind yesterday’s cold front.

Skies will start off sunny today, but fair weather clouds will be quick to develop as the daytime heating sets in. The clouds may become plentiful at times, but no rain is expected.

Winds will be nearly calm this morning before increasing to around 5 mph for the midday and afternoon hours. Winds will come from the northwest with gusts under 15 mph.

Temperatures will top out in the upper 70s this afternoon. A few of the hills in the northern parts of the county may stick closer to 75 degrees.

Dewpoints will be much lower than they have been recently. Instead of muggy conditions, it will be very comfortable with mid 50s dewpoints.

The fair weather clouds will dissipate late in the afternoon as the daytime heating is lost. Skies will become mostly clear with just a few thin clouds through the evening and overnight.

Temperatures will quickly fall through the 60s this evening on their way to an overnight low in the mid 50s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Thursday: Sun and clouds. A few scattered afternoon showers and storms. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs around 80.

Friday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.

Saturday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the low 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Sunday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the low 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.
