As high pressure slides east out over the Atlantic Ocean, heat and moisture will move back into the region, triggering a chance for some showers and storms.

The morning hours should be sunny with building cumulus clouds late. A light south wind, with speeds of near or just over 5 mph, will help temperatures shoot upwards.

By the afternoon, temperatures will be in the mid and upper 80s. A few scattered showers and storms will pop up and move from southwest to northeast.

The showers and storms will linger into the evening hours, yet not all areas will necessarily see rain today. A few gusty thunderstorm winds will be possible, but severe weather is generally not going to be a concern.

Temperatures this evening will drop to around 70 degrees. Clouds and showers will diminish after midnight, allowing overnight lows to reach the low and mid 60s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Sunday: Scattered showers and storms. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.

Monday: Showers and storms. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Tuesday: Showers and storms. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Wednesday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the low 80s.
