A Cortland woman was arrested on Thursday after she left a store without paying for electronic and houseware items worth over $1,000, according to a New York State Police (NYSP) report.

NYSP was dispatched to Target on Catherwood Road in the Village of Lansing. A trooper was assisted by Tompkins County Sheriff’s sergeant, who spotted the vehicle that Miranda M. Fairchild, 30, entered after she stole the items.

As the vehicle was leaving the parking lot with Fairchild as a passenger, a traffic stop took place between North Triphammer Road and Graham Road, the report states.

Fairchild was arrested and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a Class-E Felony. The driver of the vehicle was not charged, the report notes.

Fairchild was processed and released on an appearance ticket to Lansing Town Court on Sept. 15.
