Your Cortland County weather forecast for Tuesday, August 23, 2022:

Low pressure will pull away from the region but not before a little more rain.

There are two chances for rain today.

First will be an area of widespread showers that will drop southeast on the backside of the low pressure center. These showers are most likely this morning and into the midday hours, though there is still a chance they may mostly stay west of the county.

Then, this afternoon, isolated small showers will bubble up in the daytime heating. These will be few and far between, though, so most of the afternoon will probably be dry. Some areas may not see any additional rain at all.

Any lingering showers will dissipate in the early evening hours.

Clouds will likely be thick through the morning, but some breaks of sun between showers will be possible this afternoon. Skies will not turn partly cloudy to mostly clear until the overnight hours.

For temperatures, highs will be held in check by the clouds, showers, and a developing northwest wind behind the low. Look for afternoon highs mostly in the low 70s.

Evening temperatures will fall into the mid 60s. Mid and upper 50s are possible overnight, especially if skies end up clearing completely. Some areas of patchy fog will also be possible.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Wednesday: Sun and clouds. Maybe an isolated, brief shower. Morning lows in the mid 50s.  Afternoon highs in the upper 70s.

Thursday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the low 80s.

Friday: Sun and clouds. Scattered showers. Morning lows in the upper 50s. Afternoon highs in the upper 70s.

Saturday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the upper 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.
