Summer may be winding down, but temperatures will be plenty warm today.

Sunshine will be plentiful this morning and into the afternoon with only some daytime heating fair weather clouds in place.

The sunshine will team up southerly winds to continue pumping warm, humid air into the area. Wind speeds will be light at around or just over 5 mph.

Temperatures should rise into the mid and upper 80s this afternoon as a result. Dewpoints will be in the mid and upper 60s, so it will feel plenty muggy as well.

There may be enough heat and humidity to pop up a stray late afternoon shower or storm. Most, if not all, of the area should remain dry, though.

The chance for a stray shower or storm will persist into the evening and overnight hours. Again, the rain should be hard to come by, though.

With some clouds, the humid air, and a persistent southerly wind, temperatures will be slow to drop tonight. Evening temperatures will stick close to or above 70 degrees, while overnight lows make it into the mid and upper 60s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Tuesday: Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the low 80s.

Wednesday: Sun and clouds. A few showers. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Thursday: Sun and clouds. Maybe a few stray showers. Morning lows in the low 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 60s.

Friday: Mostly sunny. Morning lows in the low 50s. Afternoon highs near 70.
