Here are some local high school varsity sports recaps from Saturday’s events:

Varsity Boys Soccer: McGraw vs. Oxford

The McGraw Eagles defeated Oxford 2-1 on Saturday. 

With this result, the Eagles improved their record to 4-0. 

McGraw was led by Jackson Pitcher (1 goal), Nathan Stiles (1 goal), and Jaydon Bassett (1 assist). 

Oxford’s only goal of the game was scored by Jerry Hornbeck. 

McGraw’s upcoming game will be played at home against Brookfield at 4:30pm today (September 12th). 

Varsity Girls Soccer: Homer vs. Jordan-Elbridge

The Homer Lady Trojans improved to an overall record of 3-0-1 after beating Jordan Elbridge at home on Saturday. 

Homer’s only goal of the game was scored by Emily McCracken (assisted by Taryn Quinn). 

Homer goalie Catherine Apker had 6 saves at the end of the game. 

Up next, Homer will take on Phoenix on Tuesday (September 13th) at 7pm. 

Varsity Field Hockey: Homer vs. East Syracuse Minoa (ESM)

The Homer Lady Trojans fell to an 0-3 overall record after losing to ESM with a score of 0-7 Saturday morning. 

Homer goalie Aislynn Cobb made a total of 17 saves in the game.

Note: other individual stats of the game were not available by the time this article was written. 

Homer is now scheduled to take on Cato-Meridian on the road this Wednesday (September 14th) at 4:30pm. 

Varsity Field Hockey: Marathon vs. Afton

The Marathon Lady Olympians lost a close game to Afton with the minimum score of 0-1. 

With this loss, Marathon now holds a 3-2 record. 

The only goal of the game was scored by Afton’s Paige Jennings with about four minutes left in the game. 

Marathon goalie Cassie Forrest made 5 saves in the game, while Gracie Bombay had 1 save for Afton. 

Marathon’s next game will be played today (September 12th) at home against Maine-Endwell at 4:30pm.
