Here are some local high school varsity sports recaps from Tuesday’s events:
Varsity Girls Soccer: Marathon vs. Spencer Van Etten (SVE)
The Marathon Lady Olympians beat SVE with a final score of 3-2 in order to improve to a 1-2 record.
According to Marathon Head Coach Elizabeth Duncan, the game was called 17 minutes into the second half because of poor weather conditions.
Marathon was led by Marissa Allen (2 goals), Anna Hoyt (1 goal), Addison Oram (2 assists), Abby Ensign (1 assist).
Marathon goalkeeper Brenna VanDee made 8 saves in the game.
Up next, the Lady Olympians will host Moravia on Thursday (September 15th) at 4:30pm.

Varsity Girls Soccer: Cortland vs. Jamesville-Dewitt
The Cortland Purple Tigers lost a tough game to Jamesville-Dewitt 0-5 Tuesday night.
With this loss, Cortland has fallen to an overall record of 1-3.
Jamesville-Dewitt was led by Megan Baker (2 goals & 2 assists), Harmony Russell (1 goal & 1 assist), Amanda Aitken (1 goal), Meghan Kenna (1 goal), and Brooke Bort (1 assist).
Cortland’s Lauren Mott made a total of 13 saves in the game.
Cortland is now scheduled to play Central Square on the road this Thursday (September 15th) at 6:30pm.
Varsity Girls Soccer: Homer vs. Phoenix
The Homer Lady Trojans fell to a 3-1-1 record after losing 0-1 on the road against Phoenix.
Homer was led by Catherine Apker (4 saves) and Alex Kellaway (2 saves).
Phoenix was led by Paige Pinkley (1 goal), Madison Quaco (1 assist), and Sara Ruetsch (4 saves).
The Lady Trojans will now look to shake off this loss, as they prepare to play Skaneateles on the road this Thursday (September 15th) at 6:30pm.
Varsity Boys Soccer: Cortland vs. Jamesville-Dewitt
The Cortland Purple Tigers lost 0-3 against Jamesville-Dewitt, bringing them down to an overall record of 1-4.
Jamesville-Dewitt’s goals were scored by Kyan Barbuto (1 goal), TJ Brackett (1 goal), and TJ Tanner (1 goal).
Cortland goalie Paul Hansen had 8 saves in the game, while Sam Allen made 1 save for Jamesville-Dewitt.
Up next, Cortland will face off against Central Square at home on Thursday (September 15th) at 7pm.

Varsity Boys Soccer: Homer vs. Phoenix
The Homer Trojans currently hold a 2-1-1 record after defeating Phoenix 1-0 at home Tuesday night.
Homer’s only goal of the game was scored by Tristan Allen.
Braydon Fox made a total of 9 saves for Homer, while Solomon Campbell made 2 saves for Phoenix.
Homer will now host Solvay on Thursday (September 15th) at 7pm.
Varsity Boys Golf: Homer vs. Jordan-Elbridge
The Homer Trojans beat Jordan-Elbridge with a team score of 210-297. (Reminder: Lowest score in golf wins).
