City Police: Man throws molotov cocktail through window

A Cortland man was arrested a little after 2 a.m. Saturday after he threw a molotov cocktail through an apartment window, according to a city police report.

According to the report, Jeremy N. Jenney, of Sunnyfield Drive, threw a molotov cocktail through a window of an apartment building on Northcliffe Road “in an attempt to catch the building on fire.”

The report notes that a female victim of the incident received minor burns to her body, along with fire and smoke damage in the apartment “before the fire could be extinguished.” 

According to the report, Jenney was in a relationship with one of the victims, noting the relationship “had recently ended.”

Jenney was arrested and charged with first-degree arson (a Class A-1 Felony), second-degree arson (a Class-B Felony), first-degree reckless endangerment (a Class-D Felony), second-degree assault (a Class-D Felony), two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon (a Class-D Felony) and aggravated family offense (a Class-E Felony).

Jenney was processed, arraigned and sent to Cortland County Jail without bail. He is scheduled to appear in city court on Wednesday.
