Varsity Girls Soccer: Marathon vs. Whitney Point

The Marathon Lady Olympians defeated Whitney Point 9-0 in order to improve to a 3-2 record Saturday morning.
Marathon was led by Kennedy Eaton (3 goals), Abby Ensign (1 goal & 5 assists), Addison Oram (1 goal & 3 assists), Marissa Allen (1 goal), Kendre Euson (1 goal), Breya VanDee (1 assist), Anna Hoyt (1 goal), and Megan Howard (1 goal).
“I really liked the team effort today,” said Marathon Head Coach Elizabeth Duncan. “I thought our mid’s did a great job setting up our scoring chances. All nine goals today were assisted.”
Up next, Marathon is scheduled to play Groton today (September 19th) at 4:30pm.
Varsity Cross Country: Cortland vs. Multiple Schools
The Cortland Purple Tigers competed in the East Syracuse Minoa invitational Saturday morning against multiple schools.
Here are some individual highlights of both the Cortland boys’ and girls’ cross country teams from Saturday (Note: each race was 3.1 miles long):
Cortland Boys
- Avery Canzano finished 78th out of 178 participants with a time of 21:11.5
- Christian Vanpatten came in 108th out of 178 participants with a time of 23:02.1
Cortland Girls
- Alexis Brown finished 116th out of 132 participants with a time of 29:32.9
- Madison Thompson finished 121st out of 132 participants with a time of 31:56.3

- Andrew Edsall came in 37th out of 178 participants with a time of 19:15.6
- Blake Birdsall finished 76th out of 178 participants with a time of 21:03.6
- Landon Barnhart came in 80th out 178 participants with a time of 21:18.3
Marathon Girls
- Abigail Trabucco placed 38th out of 132 participants with a time of 22:39.5
- Rylee Thomas came in 88th out of 132 participants with a time of 26:34.3
- Natasha Seib finished 90th out of 132 participants with a time of 26:34.8
