Cortland County High School Sports Recaps (September 27th)

Here are some local high school varsity sports recaps from Tuesday’s events:

Varsity Boys Soccer: Homer vs. Chittenango

The Homer Trojans tied against Chittenango with a score of 1-1 on Tuesday. 

Homer was led by Kyler Crump (1 goal) and Braydon Fox (15 assists). 

Chittenango was led by Jacob Scheidelman (1 goal) and Logan Bronner (4 saves). 

With this result, Homer now holds a 4-2-2 record.

Up next, Homer will host Cazenovia on Thursday (September 29th) at 5pm. 

Varsity Boys Soccer: McGraw vs. Madison

The McGraw Eagles improved to an 8-3 record after beating Madison 3-0. 

McGraw was led by Nathan Stiles (2 goals), Jaydon Bassett (1 goal), and Logan Moffitt (1 assist). 

McGraw goalkeeper Gabriel Kahle made 6 saves in the game, while Anthony Dodge made 12 saves for Madison. 

McGraw will play DeRuyter on the road this Thursday (September 29th) at 4:30pm. 

Varsity Girls Soccer: Cortland vs. East Syracuse Minoa (ESM)

The Cortland Lady Tigers fell to a 1-6 record after losing to East Syracuse Minoa (ESM) with a score of 1-7. 

Cortland was led by Reese Whitney (1 goal) and Lauren Mott (22 saves). 

ESM was led by Angelina Polcaro (3 goals & 1 assist), Leah Rehm (2 goals & 2 assists), Natalie Peterson (2 goals & 1 assist), Bailey Rehm (1 assist), Ashley Praxl (1 assist), and Isabelle Chavoustie (6 saves).  

Cortland will play Oswego at Oswego High School on Thursday (September 29th) at 7pm.

Varsity Girls Soccer: Homer vs. Chittenango

The Homer Lady Trojans lost to Chittenango with a close score of 0-1 on Tuesday. With this loss, Homer currently holds an overall record of 3-5-1. 

Homer was led by Catherine Apker (7 saves) and Alex Kellaway (5 saves). 

Chittenango was led by Abby Scheidelman (1 goal) and Rebecca Baldwin (10 saves).

Up next, Homer will take on Cazenovia at home this Thursday (September 29th) at 7pm.

The McGraw Lady Eagles lost to Madison after a close game with a score of 0-1. 

McGraw was led by Heather Magee (2 saves). 

Madison was led by Mara Wasuck (1 goal), Mackenzie Cotter (1 assist), and Cameryn Stanfield. 

With this loss, McGraw has fallen to an overall record of 3-6-1. 

McGraw will play at home against DeRuyter on Thursday (September 29th) at 4:30pm. 

Varsity Girls Soccer: Cincinnatus vs. Waterville

The Cincinnatus Lady Lions improved their unbeaten record to 7-0 after beating Waterville 6-1 on the road Tuesday afternoon. 

Cincinnatus was led by Kyla Sustad (3 goals & 2 assists), Cassia Schuyler (2 goals & 1 assist), and Ava Larrabee (1 goal & 1 assist). 

Waterville’s only goal of the game was scored by Kylee Ford. 

Up next, Cincinnatus will look to extend their unbeaten record as they take on Stockbridge Valley on the road this Thursday (September 29th) at 4:30pm. 

Varsity Field Hockey: Cortland vs. East Syracuse Minoa (ESM)

The Cortland Tigers lost 0-2 against East Syracuse Minoa (ESM, bringing their record down to 0-5-1. 

Cortland goalie Ella Martin made 8 saves in the game.

Cortland will host Canastota today (September 28th) at 5:30pm. 

Varsity Volleyball: Homer vs Westhill

The Homer Lady Trojans lost in three sets against Westhill on Tuesday. With this result, Homer has fallen to an overall record of 5-5. 

Homer was led by Mackenzie Hubbard (5 kills, 9 digs, 1 ace & 1 block), Madison Wethje (10 assists, 3 digs, 1 kill & 1 ace), and Lilly Sorenson (5 kills, 5 digs & 2 blocks). 

Westhill was led by Alison Lancette (12 kills, 2 digs & 1 ace), Ava Baty (5 kills, 16 assists, 5 digs & 1 kill), and Hannah Schmitz (11 assists, 6 digs & 1 ace).

Up next, Homer will host Mexico on Tuesday (October 4th) at 6pm. 

Varsity Volleyball: Cortland vs. Jamesville-Dewitt

The Cortland Purple Tigers fell to an overall record of 4-4 after losing to Jamesville-Dewitt in three sets. 

Cortland was led by Aliza McCormick (4 kills & 6 digs) and Molly Steve (9 digs, 9 assists & 1 kill). 

Jamesville-Dewitt was led by Cadence Milligan (20 assists, 3 aces. 1 kill & 2 digs) and Merris Kessler (7 kills & 4 blocks). 

Cortland is scheduled to host Living World Academy on Thursday (September 29th) at 6:30pm.
