Cortland County Director of Planning Trisha Jesset recently announced she will be stepping down from her position to take a new one in the area, effective Oct. 14.

“I wasn’t actively looking (for a job), but there came an opportunity that I couldn’t pass up,” Jesset said at a recent County Planning Board meeting. “I will be leaving the county, but certainly not the community.”

Jesset has held the position since June of last year. She thanked the county planning board for the time and effort they’ve put in as members.

“I appreciate everyone that sits on this board,” Jesset said at the recent planning board meeting.

Alex Schultz, currently a planner in the county’s department, will become the interim planning director once Jesset leaves the position.

“I’ll still be active in as many ways as possible,” Jesset said. “I’m very passionate about the county moving forward.”
