Here are some local high school varsity sports recaps from Monday’s events:
Varsity Girls Soccer: Homer vs. McGraw
The Homer Lady Trojans defeated McGraw 5-0 in a Cortland County rivalry game at Homer High School on Monday.
With this result, Homer improved to an overall record of 4-6-2, while McGraw fell to 3-8-1.
McGraw goalkeeper Heather Magee made 11 saves in the game, while Catherine Apker and Alex Kellaway combined to make 3 saves for Homer.
Homer plays at home against Marcellus on Thursday (October 6th) at 7pm; while McGraw hits the road to play Otselic Valley on Friday (October 7th) at 4:30pm.
Varsity Girls Soccer: Marathon vs. Newfield
The Marathon Lady Olympians improved to a 7-6 record after beating Newfield on the road Monday afternoon with a final score of 1-0.
Marathon was led by Kennedy Eaton (1 goal), Marissa Allen (1 assist), and Brenna VanDee (9 saves).
Newfield was led by Sierra Lynch (10 saves) and Natalie Tibbals (15 saves).
Up next, Marathon will take on Groton on the road this Wednesday (October 5th) at 4:30pm.
Varsity Field Hockey: Marathon vs. Maine-Endwell
The Marathon Field Hockey Team lost 0-2 against Maine-Endwell on Monday.
With this loss, Marathon currently holds a 7-5 record.

Marathon’s upcoming game is scheduled to be played at home against Tioga Senior on Tuesday (October 4th) at 4:30pm.
Varsity Boys Golf: Homer vs. Westhill
The Homer Trojans defeated Westhill with a team score of 222-231. (Reminder: lowest score in golf wins).

The Cortland Purple Tigers participated in an “SCAC Empire Match” Monday afternoon.
A total of eight teams (Cortland, Oswego, East Syracuse Minoa, Syracuse City, Jamesville-Dewitt, Fulton, Central Square & Auburn) competed in yesterday’s match.
