High pressure will take over the weather today, removing the persistent cloud cover of the last several days.

Any lingering clouds that are still around after sunrise this morning will quickly dissipate. In their wake, bright blue, sun-filled skies will dominate.

Only a stray wisp of cirrus cloud or a few small fair-weather clouds are possible, but even they may not be able to overcome the high pressure and dry air.

Winds will be light out of the north with speeds around 5 mph. Top gusts on the day will only be around 15 mph.

The sunshine will help temperatures increase with highs reaching the mid and upper 60s.

Tonight, winds will turn lightly to the southwest. Temperatures will slide back into the 40s, but should not get any lower, despite continuing clear skies.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Thursday: Sun and clouds. A few late showers possible. Mild. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.

Friday: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers. Morning highs in the mid 60s with afternoon temperatures falling to the low 50s.

Saturday: Morning clouds and lake effect rain showers. Increasing afternoon sunshine. Much cooler. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the upper 40s.

Sunday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 50s.
