Today will be the warmest day we have had in a while as mild air moves in ahead of an approaching cold front.

Skies will be a mix of sunshine and thin clouds this morning. Gradually, the clouds will increase and thicken during the afternoon. By the end of the day, it should be rather cloudy.

No rain is expected during the daytime hours, but early this evening, a band of rain may quickly move through the area. A brief period of heavier rain is not out of the question, but on the flip side, a few areas may get missed altogether.

Winds during the day will be light and variable, but with a generally west and southwest direction.

Even with the increasing clouds and only light winds, highs should still make it to the low 70s this afternoon.

The wind will increase tonight behind the band of rain, coming from the southwest at 5-10 mph. Clouds will also be plentiful overnight. This should help temperatures stick to the upper 40s or near 50 degrees.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Friday: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers. Morning highs in the mid 50s with afternoon temperatures falling to the upper 40s.

Saturday: More clouds than sun until late in the day. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the upper 40s.

Sunday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 50s.

Monday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the upper 50s.
