A cold front will move through the area today, but precipitation will be spotty.

A few showers will accompany the frontal passage this morning. These should be scattered, brief, and light. Some areas will probably not see any rain before the front moves through.

Once the front clears the area, winds will swing around from the southwest to the northwest with increasing speeds. Much of the day will have wind speeds near or above 10 mph with gusts over 25 mph.

These winds will bring cooler air into the region. Temperatures will rise to the mid or even upper 50s this morning, only to retreat to the low or perhaps 50s for the afternoon.

Clouds should remain plentiful, though a few breaks of sun cannot be ruled out. Also possible, but not plentiful, will be a few more showers. Much of the time will be dry, and some areas could get through the morning and afternoon without a drop.

Tonight, lake effect rain showers will develop southeast of Lake Ontario and move into the area. On and off showers are likely throughout the evening and overnight.

Temperatures will drop through the 40s and could end up in the 30s by Saturday morning. This is most likely if the lake effect shifts north before sunrise and some breaks in the clouds develop.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Saturday: More clouds than sun until late in the day. Morning lows in the upper 30s. Afternoon highs near 50.

Sunday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 50s.

Monday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the upper 50s.

Tuesday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the upper 30s. Afternoon highs near 60.
