Cortland County High School Sports Recaps (October 14th)

Here are some local high school varsity sports recaps from Friday’s events:

Varsity Boys Soccer: McGraw vs. Cincinnatus

The McGraw Eagles defeated Cincinnatus with a final score of 2-1 Friday evening. 

McGraw was led by Logan Moffitt (1 goal) and Nathan Stiles (1 goal). 

Cincinnatus was led by Canden Stafford (1 goal) and Jack Stafford (1 assist). 

This was both McGraw’s and Cincinnatus’ last game of the regular season. 

McGraw ended the regular season with an overall record of 11-4, while Cincinnatus ended the regular season with an 8-6-1 overall record.

Up next, both teams will look forward to playing in the Section III Class D Playoff Tournament. 

Varsity Girls Soccer: Cincinnatus vs. Sandy Creek

The Cincinnatus Lady Lions improved their unbeaten record to 15-0 after defeating Sandy Creek on the road Friday evening with a final score of 15-0. 

The Lady Lions are currently ranked #4 in the state for Class D

Throughout yesterday’s game, Cincinnatus was led by Kyla Sustad (5 goals & 3 assists), Cassia Schuyler (4 goals & 1 assist), Madelyn Pittsley (2 goals & 1 assist), Alayna Holtmart (2 goals & 1 assist), Ava Larrabee (1 goal & 2 assists), and Jarisa Temple (1 goal). 

Up next, Cincinnatus will take on Thousand Island on the road this Saturday (October 15th) at 11am.

Varsity Girls Soccer: Homer vs. Syracuse

The Homer Lady Trojans won their last game of the regular season with a final score of 2-1 on the road against Syracyse. 

Homer was led by Catherine Apker (2 goals), Elena Barrett (1 assist), and Alex Kellaway (8 saves). 

Syracuse was led by Belvia Konodji (1 goal), Cecelia Kafton (1 assist), and Desaree Gaston (7 saves). 

With this win, Homer ended the regular season with an overall record of 6-8-2, and qualified to play in the sectional tournament. 

Varsity Field Hockey: Cortland vs. East Syracuse Minoa (ESM)

The Cortland Lady Tigers lost 0-4 against ESM Friday evening. 

ESM was led by Alessandra Fernandez (3 goals), Sarah Stadelmann (1 goal & 1 assist), and Reiley Murphy (1 assist). 

Cortland goalie Ella Martin made 7 saves in the game, while Mollie Comstock recorded 1 save for ESM. 

With this loss, Cortland ended their season with an overall record of 0-14-1.
