Cortland County High School Sports Recaps (October 21st & 22nd)

Here are some local high school varsity sports recaps from Friday’s and Saturday’s events:

Varsity Boys Soccer: Marathon vs. Margaretville

The #2 seeded Marathon Olympians lost in the quarterfinal round of the Section IV Class D Playoff Tournament against Margaretville (#7 seed) on Saturday (October 22nd).

Marathon lost the game with a final score of 0-4. 

Note: individual stats of the game were not available by the time this article was written. 

With this result, Marathon ended their season with an overall record of 12-3-1.

Varsity Girls Soccer: Marathon vs. Charlotte Valley

The #4 seeded Marathon Lady Olympians lost a tough game against Charlotte Valley (#12 seed) in the quarterfinal round of the Section IV Class D Playoff Tournament on Friday (October 21st). 

Marathon lost the game 0-4. 

With this loss, Marathon ended their season with an overall record of 9-7-1

The Homer Trojans defeated the Cortland Purple Tigers with a score of 48-0 at their annual rivalry Home-Cort Jug game Friday night.
