The top-seeded Cincinnatus varsity girls soccer team is slated to face fourth-seeded Copenhagen (14-2-1) in the Section III Class D semifinal round at 5 p.m. today at Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School.

Cincinnatus defeated ninth-seeded Remsen, 5-0, in last week’s sectional quarterfinal round.

The winner of this evening’s semifinal round contest between Copenhagen and Cincinnatus will face either third-seeded Poland (15-2) or seventh-seeded Hamilton (13-5) in the sectional final at 5:30 p.m. Friday at SUNY Cortland.

Poland was a finalist in last year’s New York State Class D Tournament.

The Lions are sporting an undefeated record (17-0) going into this evening’s matchup. Cincinnatus is also third in the latest Class D state rankings by the New York State Sportswriter Association.
