There will be three phases to the weather today.

First, this morning, low level moisture off the Atlantic Ocean will be in place thanks to south-southeast winds. This will manifest itself as low clouds, some fog, and perhaps a few spits of drizzle.

Through the morning, the wind will turn to the south. No longer coming off the Atlantic Ocean, the atmosphere will dry out some and clouds will erode. Skies will be a mix of sunshine and some clouds during the late morning and early afternoon hours.

Lastly, a cold front will approach from the west during the afternoon. Clouds will gradually increase again, and a few stray showers will be possible in the mid and late afternoon hours.

A few showers may linger early in the evening with skies remaining cloudy through the overnight.

The wind will be blustery at times, with speeds commonly around 10 mph and up to 15 mph in the early afternoon. Top gusts on the day will approach 30 mph.

Winds will turn clockwise from the south in the late afternoon to the northwest by midnight.

Look for afternoon high temperatures to reach the upper 60s to near 70 degrees. Evening temperatures will remain in the mid 50s, but as the winds shift, cooler air will work in. Overnight lows will thus drop into the mid 40s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Thursday: Morning clouds. Afternoon sun. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the low 50s.

Friday: Thin clouds and some filtered sun. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 50s.

Saturday: Mostly sunny. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid and upper 50s.

Sunday: Gradually increasing clouds. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the low 60s.
