County Drug Task Force: Woman arrested for drug and weapon possession

A City of Cortland woman was arrested early Wednesday morning for alleged drug and weapon possession, according to a Cortland County Drug Task Force report.

The County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant around 4:45 a.m. Wednesday at a residence on Main Street in Cortland, which was connected to Wendy Caswell, 40, of Cortland, the report noted.

Officers of the drug task force located an assault rifle, approximately three grams of Fentanyl, a half-gram of methamphetamine, packaging material, scales, Tramadol and Alprazolam pills.

According to the report, the street value of the controlled substances is $400.

Caswell was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (a Class-B Felony), third-degree criminal possession of a weapon (a Class-D Felony), criminal possession of a firearm (a Class-E Felony), three counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (a Class-A Misdemeanor), two counts of second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia (a Class-A Misdemeanor) and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon (a Class-A Misdemeanor).

Caswell was processed and is currently awaiting arraignment.
