Cincinnatus defeats Copenhagen in sectional semifinals; Title game up next

The top-seeded Cincinnatus Lady Lions defeated fourth-seeded Copenhagen in the semifinal round of the Section III Class D playoff tournament with a score of 7-1 Wednesday evening. 

The game was played at neutral site, Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School. 

Throughout the game, Cincinnatus was led by Kyla Sustad (4 goals & 1 assist), Ava Larrabee (2 goals), Cassia Schuyler (1 goal & 1 assist), Jarisa Temple (1 assist), Peyton Stith (1 assist), and Payton Gerrard (1 assist). 

Copenhagen’s only goal of the game was scored by Madison Cheek (assisted by Mollie Babcock).

With this win, the Lions will come into the sectional championship game with an undefeated record of 18-0. 

Cincinnatus is scheduled to play the Championship round of the sectional tournament against third-seeded Poland at SUNY Cortland this Friday (October 28th) at 5:30pm. 

According to the New York State Sportswriter Association, Cincinnatus is ranked third in the state for Class D; while Poland is ranked fourth
