Cortland Volleyball defeated by Westhill in Sectional Semifinals

The fourth seeded Cortland Tigers lost to top seeded Westhill in the semifinal round of the Section III Class B Playoff Tournament Tuesday night. 

The match was played at Westhill High School, where Cortland lost in three straight sets. 

Cortland was led by Molly Steve (2 kills, 8 assists & 11 digs), Aaliyah Henley-Amey (3 aces, 3 kills & 13 digs), and Aliza McCormick (4 kills & 6 digs). 

Westhill was led by Ava Baty (3 kills, 1 ace, 25 assists, & 4 digs), Hannah Schmitz (3 kills, 3 aces, 8 digs & 1 block), and Janiah Robinson (9 kills & 4 blocks).

With this loss, Cortland finished their season with an overall record of 8-11. Westhill will move on to play in the sectional finals against third seeded Homer and second seeded Marcellus. Homer’s match will be played at Marcellus High School at 6pm tonight (November 2nd). 

The sectional finals are scheduled to be played on Friday (November 4th) at Chittenango High School at 5:30pm.
