A strong area of high pressure spanning much of Canada will build southeast into the Great Lakes region, including Cortland County.

Skies today will be sunny from start to finish thanks to the dominating high pressure system.

As the high builds in, winds will shift from the west early on, to the northwest for much of the day. The wind will be breezy, with speeds around 10 mph and gusts just under 30 mph.

Temperatures will not be as warm as they have been but will still be a bit above average. Look for midday and early afternoon highs in the upper 50s to around 60 degrees. The temperature may start to retreat in the mid afternoon before dropping quicker as the sun sets.

Evening temperatures will quickly fall through the 40s and into the 30s. Overnight lows will reach the mid 30s.

Only a few stray thin clouds are expected overnight. For the most part, though, it will just be clear.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Tuesday: Mostly sunny. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny. Morning lows in the mid and upper 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 50s.

Thursday: Sunny with a few clouds. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs near 60.

Friday: Increasing clouds with rain possible late. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs near 60.
