Chilly winds will continue to blow today with just a few flurries from time to time.

Heavy lake effect over western New York will be ongoing throughout the day from Lake Erie. Snow showers will extend inland from this band but will mostly stay north of Cortland County.

A few occasional flurries will be possible though, as moisture associated with Lake Erie is forced uphill over our hills. Most areas will have no accumulation, but a few areas may see a light coating.

Between flurries, a couple of breaks of sun cannot be ruled out. These would probably be brief, though.

Winds will be from the southwest, or occasionally west-southwest, with speeds around 10 mph. Top gusts on the day will be just over 25 mph.

Afternoon highs will mostly stick around 35 degrees. A few of the higher elevations may not escape the low 30s, though.

Tonight, the Lake Erie band will shift south, leading to an increased chance in flurries for a few hours this evening. Still, accumulations should be limited to a light dusting.

During the overnight, the band will head northwest, far out of our region. The clouds may even break up, allowing for overnight lows in the mid and upper 10s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Saturday: Partly cloudy. Morning lows in the mid and upper 10s. Afternoon highs in the low and mid 30s.

Sunday: More clouds than sun. Scattered snow showers. Morning lows in the mid and upper 10s. Afternoon highs around 30.

Monday: Partly cloudy. Morning lows in the mid 10s. Afternoon highs in the upper 30s.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny. Morning lows in the low 20s. Afternoon highs in the low 40s.
