The Homer varsity football team heads up to Syracuse to face Section IV’s Maine-Endwell at 3 p.m. Saturday in the New York State Class B regional round at Cicero-North Syracuse High School.

The Trojans (9-1) are coming off a 14-0 victory over Indian River to capture their second-straight Section III Class B crown

Homer redeemed itself in this matchup after a 36-14 loss to the Warriors on Oct. 7. It was the Trojans’ only loss during the regular season.

Last week, the Spartans (10-0) beat Norwich, 37-13, to hoist the Section IV Class B trophy. Maine-Endwell is the defending Class B state champion, its fourth state crown in program history.

The winner of Saturday’s Class B regionals matchup at C-NS will move on to the state semifinal round at 3 p.m. Nov. 26 at Union-Endicott High School.

According to the New York State Sportswriters Association, Homer is ranked seventh in the state in Class B, while Maine-Endwell is the top-ranked squad.
