Cortland County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant and arrested two county residents for crystal methamphetamine possession, according to a report by the county sheriff’s office.

The report noted the warrant took officers of the drug task force to a residence on Route 26 in the town of Taylor, where Elijah J. Closson and Rachael E. Norton, both 43-years old, were seen.

Upon their search, officers found about eight grams of crystal meth, packaging material, scales and an undisclosed amount of money. The report stated the meth found has an approximate street value of over $800.

Closson was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (a Class-B Felony, subdivision 7) and two counts of second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia (a Class-A Misdemeanor). Norton was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (a Class-A Misdemeanor).

Closson and Norton were processed, arraigned and released on one’s own recognizance. Both are slated to appear in Taylor town court at a later date.
