November will go out notably with widespread rain and strong winds as a low pressure system tracks through the area.

Rain will fall steadily through the morning and first half of the afternoon. A few heavier downpours will be possible within the larger area of rain, as will a few lulls at times.

In all, by the time the rain stops this afternoon, one-quarter to a half inch may fall.

Strong south winds will accompany the rain. Wind speeds will be around 20 mph, with widespread gusts of 40-45 mph. Hilltops in the northern half of the county may gust as high as 50 mph.

The winds will be strongest in the morning and early afternoon before losing some of their power in the late afternoon and evening. The drop in wind speed will coincide with a shift in wind direction to the southwest, then west, and eventually west-northwest.

Temperatures will rise with the winds to a high in the upper 40s to near 50 early this afternoon. Cool air will be quick to move in after the wind shift with 30s by the early evening.

Some snow showers and a few brief squalls off Lake Erie will move in early this evening. Locally, up to an inch may fall. The snow should quickly move to the south, leaving the overnight dry.

Temperatures will bottom out in the mid 20s with winds still gusting over 25 mph at times.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Thursday: Windy. A mix of sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 30s.

Friday: Sun and clouds. Not as windy. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the low 40s.

Saturday: Perhaps some showers. Winds picking up again. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs near 50.

Sunday: Clouds and some sun. Morning lows in the upper 20s. Afternoon highs in the upper 30s.
