High pressure will slide by the region today, bringing quiet weather to the area.

Light south winds will blow at up to 10 mph throughout much of the day. Top gusts during the daytime hours should be around 20 mph.

These winds will team up with partial sunshine to nudge temperatures upward. Look for afternoon highs today in the low to perhaps mid 40s. A few of the hilltops in the northern parts of the county may stick right by 40 degrees.

No rain or snow is expected during the day, but the clouds will begin to thicken late. The wind will also start to increase.

Through the evening, wind speeds will increase closer to 15 mph and gusts will be between 30-40 mph. The strongest winds will be over those same northern hilltops.

The clouds will continue to thicken as well, and some scattered showers may begin to move in near or after midnight. Temperatures should be warm enough for primarily rain to fall, but a few snowflakes could mix in.

Evening temperatures will drop to the mid and upper 30s, then hold steady much of the night. As winds continue and rain showers increase toward dawn, the temperature may rise a degree or two.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Saturday: Scattered rain showers. Winds picking up again with south gusts over 40 mph. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the upper 40s.

Sunday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 30s.

Monday: Clouds and some sun. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the upper 30s.

Tuesday: Rain showers, possibly starting with a little mixed precipitation before sunrise. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs in the low 40s.
