Another windy day is ahead as low pressure tracks across Canada, dragging a cold front through the region.

Winds have been increasing through the night and will peak during the morning and early afternoon hours.

South winds during this time will blow at around 15 mph with gusts of 35-45 mph. The highest wind speeds will be over the higher elevations.

During the latter half of the afternoon, winds will turn to the west and will not be quite as strong. Gusts will gradually retreat, ending up under 30 mph shortly after sunset.

This shift in wind will be facilitated by a cold front that will plow through the region. Out ahead of the front, scattered showers and occasional bouts of steadier rain will be possible on and off through the morning.

Along the front early this afternoon, a narrow band of heavy rain and gusty winds will move through. It is behind this band that the winds will shift.

Temperatures will push into the upper 40s to near 50 degrees ahead of the front during the midday hours. Behind the front, temperatures will steadily drop through the 40s during the afternoon.

A few flurries will be possible around sunset and into the evening hours. These should be brief with little to no accumulation. Nighttime temperatures will fall well into the 20s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Sunday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 30s.

Monday: Clouds and some sun. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the upper 30s.

Tuesday: Rain showers, possibly starting with a little mixed precipitation before sunrise. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy with some rain showers. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.
