The weather will remain gloomy and unsettled today, though it may not be actively raining much.

Thick clouds are expected throughout the day, though a brief glimpse of sunshine cannot be totally ruled out, mostly during the late morning and midday hours.

A few stray showers will dot the region at times, and when it is not raining, it may still be on the drizzly side.

Winds will be light from the south this morning with speeds around or under 5 mph. This afternoon, the wind will turn to the northwest, but wind speeds will stay steady.

Despite the weakness of the wind, it will have an impact on the temperature. High temperatures during the midday and early afternoon will be in the upper 40s to perhaps near 50 degrees. The afternoon will then lose a couple of degrees before sunset.

Tonight, skies will remain cloudy with spits of drizzle and brief, light showers. Temperatures will slowly drop through the 40s and into the 30s.

Precipitation should remain liquid through the night, even as temperatures drop into the mid 30s. A lack of cold air aloft in the clouds will prevent snowflakes from even forming.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Thursday: Mostly cloudy. A few spits of rain, mostly early. Maybe a little late sun. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the upper 30s.

Friday: A mix of clouds and some sun. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 30s.

Saturday: Clouds and some sun. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the upper 30s.

Sunday: Cloudy. Maybe a spit of rain or an early flurry. Morning lows near 30. Afternoon highs in the upper 30s.
