A Cortland County resident is facing multiple charges for breaking and entering into a residence, according to a Cortland County Sheriff’s Office report.

The report noted that Michael A. Grossi, 37 of the town of Cortlandville, had “unlawfully entered” a victim’s residence in the town earlier in the day on Sunday.

County sheriff’s officers, who responded to a call at the residence for a reported burglary, had noted in the report that Grossi “damaged numerous items” within the residence and “stole property” before leaving the scene.

Later in the day, the report stated, officers conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle that was being driven by Grossi. Officers discovered that Grossi had a “full away order of protection” with the passenger inside the vehicle.

Grossi was also in possession of some of the stolen property from the burglary investigation, the report stated. Officers were able to locate the rest of the stolen property in a garage at a residence in Cortlandville.

Grossi was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary (a Class-C Felony), fourth-degree grand larceny (a Class-E Felony), third-degree criminal mischief (a Class-E Felony) and second-degree criminal contempt (a Class-A Misdemeanor).

Grossi was arraigned and sent to Cortland County Jail on a $500 cash bail, $1,000 bond, or a $5,000 partially-secured bond (with 10% down).
