Cortland County High School Sports Recaps (December 8th)

Here are some local high school varsity sports recaps from Thursday’s events:

Varsity Girls Basketball: Homer vs. Westhill

The Homer Lady Trojans fell to Westhill on the road  with a score of 40-70 Thursday night. 

With this loss, Homer now holds a 1-3 record. 

Homer was led by Elia Spanbauer (15 points), Catelyn Ensign (10 points), and Catherine Apker (10 points). 

Westhill was led by Janiah Robinson (31 points), Tess Roesch (13 points), and Izzy Young (10 points). 

Up next, Homer will host Cortland for a County rivalry matchup on Monday (December 12th) at 6:45pm. 

Varsity Volleyball: Cincinnatus vs. Stockbridge Valley

The Cincinnatus Lady Lions defeated Stockbridge Valley in three sets Thursday night on the road. 

Cincinnatus was led by Caitlyn St. Germain (6 aces, 13 service points, 10 assists & 4 kills), Allyson St. Germain (10 aces, 15 service points & 7 kills), and Payton Gerrard (3 aces & 5 service points). 

Stockbridge Valley was led by Abby Reed (3 kills, 5 digs & 1 block) and Aspen Tucci (3 kills, 4 digs & 1 ace). 

With this win, Cincinnatus improved to a 2-0 record. 

Cincinnatus will now play on the road against Brookfield on Monday (December 12th) at 7pm.
