Two individuals were arrested following a disturbance at a residence on Homer Avenue in Cortland, according to a city police report.

The report noted that Christopher J. Gleason, 32, was inside the residence and refused to “allow a female and a child to leave the residence,” while a disturbance was taking place inside.

Several family members and friends, the report continued, went to the residence to contact the individuals inside, but Gleason “refused to let them in.” Two of the friends “responded to the residence,” but Gleason “struck them several times” with a baseball hat in the apartment hallway.

Gleason was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon (a Class-D Felony), second-degree menacing (a Class-A Misdemeanor), resisting arrest (a Class-A Misdemeanor), second-degree obstructing governmental administration (a Class-A Misdemeanor), endangering the welfare of a child (a Class-A Misdemeanor) and second-degree harassment (a violation).

Another individual, Destiny Winters, 21, was arrested in connection to the disturbance and also for unrelated outstanding warrants.

Winters was charged with resisting arrest (a Class-A Misdemeanor), second-degree obstruction of governmental administration (a Class-A Misdemeanor), endangering the welfare of a child (a Class-A Misdemeanor) and false personation (a Class-B Misdemeanor).

Gleason was arraigned and is currently being held at Cortland County Jail on $5,000 bail. Winters was arraigned, released and issued an appearance ticket for city court.
