Today will be the proverbial calm before the storm with wintry weather expected Thursday and Friday, but quiet conditions today.

High pressure over eastern Canada will continue to supply cool air and will make a stand against incoming clouds.

Some of the clouds will make it in, but these will mostly be thin clouds high in the atmosphere. The clouds may filter the sunshine at times, but other periods may be quite sunny.

The clouds will make headway tonight and will thicken, but no precipitation is expected overnight.

Light north winds will blow at near or just over 5 mph. Gusts will be under 20 mph. Tonight, the wind will briefly calm, but then will pick back up from the east-southeast.

Temperatures will top out within a couple of degrees on either side 30 degrees. The higher terrain in the northern parts of the county have the best shot at staying in the 20s for highs.

Tonight, it will be a quick drop into the 10s before temperatures rise back towards the mid 20s by dawn Thursday.
