Cortlandville firefighter Johnathan Alteri arrived on scene, entered the “freezing water” of the creek with assistance from a bystander and helped to remove the driver from the truck, according to the release.

Alteri “dragged” the driver to the creek bank, where a “rope was thrown down the embankment,” the report continued.

Officers and firefighters were then able to pull the driver away from the cold, treating the individual for signs of hypothermia.

The release stated the driver was submerged in the creekwater for an hour. TLC ambulance transported the driver to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center for further treatment.
