Light south winds cleared out the lake effect clouds last night, leaving skies sunny for much of the day today.

There will be a few clouds here and there, especially this morning. Much of the midday and afternoon will have blue skies, though. Late this afternoon, or this evening, thin clouds will gradually begin to build in from the west.

No precipitation is expected from any of these clouds, including the thickening overcast overnight.

Winds will be from the south at around 5 mph this morning, but will then become nearly calm this afternoon. Evening winds will pick back up to around 5 mph, but from the southeast.

Afternoon temperatures will be close to seasonal averages, reaching the low and mid 30s. Evening temperatures will quickly fall through the 20s and could reach the upper 10s if the clouds are not fully in place yet.

With the increase in clouds and introduction of the southeast wind, temperatures will eventually stop dropping and will rise several degrees overnight, reaching the low 20s by dawn.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Thursday: Cloudy. A period of wet snow turning to rain, mostly in the afternoon. Morning lows in the upper 10s and low 20s. Afternoon highs in the upper 30s.

Friday: Morning wind and rain, turning to a brief period of snow as temperatures drop sharply. Morning temperatures in the upper 40s. Afternoon temperatures dropping through the 30s and 20s.

Saturday: Windy. Scattered snow showers possible with localized light accumulations. Blowing and drifting snow. Morning lows in the mid 0s. Afternoon highs in the mid 10s.

Sunday: Snow showers likely. Blowing and drifting snow. Morning lows in the mid 0s. Afternoon highs in the low 20s.
