The Homer Trojans defeated Marcellus in a dual meet with a team score of 36-33 Wednesday evening.

The McGraw Eagles lost a close game against Madison with a score of 53-60 Wednesday night. 

With this loss, McGraw has fallen to an overall record of 6-2.

Varsity Girls Basketball: Cincinnatus vs. Poland

The Cincinnatus Lady Lions lost 27-52 against Poland on the road Wednesday night. 

Cincinnatus was led by Emma Finch (10 points) and Cortney Scutt (8 points).

Poland was led by Logan Cookinham (18 points) and Maddison Haver (10 points).

With this result, Cincinnatus fell to a 2-6 record. 

Cincinnatus is now scheduled to play McGraw on the road this Frida (January 6th) at 6pm. 

Varsity Girls Basketball: Marathon vs. Groton

The Marathon Lady Olympians lost a tough game on the road against Groton with a score of 18-41. 

Marathon was led by Abby Ensign (9 points), Audrey Ensign (6 points), and Addison Oram (3 points). 

Groton was led by Mattison Lucey (13 points) and Ellie Dykeman (8 points).

“Not our best performance,” said Marathon Head Coach Elizabeth Duncan. “We did not start being aggressive on offense until late. We looked very flat from the start. We will look to get back on track Friday at Newfield.”

With this loss, Marathon now holds a 5-5 record. 

Up next, Marathon will play Newfield on the road at 6pm this Friday (January 6th).

Varsity Ice Hockey: Cortland-Homer vs. Christian Brothers Academy

The Cortland-Homer Golden Eagles lost a tough game against Christian Brothers Academy with a score of 4-7 Wednesday night. 

This was Cortland-Homer’s first loss of the regular season, bringing them to a 7-1 record. 

Cortland-Homer was led by Mitch Riter (2 goals), Andrew Partigianoni (1 goal & 1 assist), Hunter Everle (3 assists), Aidan Farron (1 assist), Finn Thomas (1 assist), Ryan Spalding (1 goal), and Garret Clark (21 saves). 

Christian Brothers Academy was led by Finn Wheeler (1 goal & 2 assists), Joe Dotterer (2 goals & 1 assist), Ben Bristol-Murray (1 goal & 1 assist), Will Sharlow (1 assist), James Stanton (1 goal), Quinn Wimer (1 goal & 2 assists), Alex Binsack (1 goal), Gavin Dunford (1 assist), Gavin Parks (1 assist), Ben Lovell (4 saves), and Justin Buffum (11 saves).  

“Tonight was a tough one for our group,” said Cortland-Homer Head Coach Paul Quinlan. “We didn’t have our best and it finally caught up with us. Full credit to CBA. They are a very good team, and they were well prepared for us tonight. We have a senior heavy group, and we will respond I am sure, but we need to be better. There are no easy nights in this league.”

Up next, Cortland-Homer will play Liverpool at the Coliseum in the NYS Fairgrounds on Thursday (January 5th) at 8:15pm. 

Varsity Girls Volleyball: Cincinnatus vs. McGraw

The Cincinnatus Lions defeated the McGraw Eagles in three sets Wednesday night. 

With this result, Cincinantus improved to a 6-0 overall record, while McGraw fell to 0-6. 

Cincinnatus was led by Caitlyn St. Germain (4 aces, 16 assists, 4 kills & 7 service points), Payton Gerrard (6 aces & 19 service points), Kaedance Latta (3 kills), Madelyn Pittsley (6 aces, 5 kills & 8 service points), Shannon Ryan (4 kills), Kaires Raymond (3 aces & 5 service points), Allyson St. Germain (2 aces & 5 kills), and Cassia Schuyler (3 aces & 6 service points).
