Two individuals arrested & charged for DWI

Two individuals this week were arrested for driving while intoxicated, according to reports from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.

John E. Sears, 45 of McGraw, was involved in a car accident on East River Road in the town of Cortlandville Thursday evening, the report stated. County sheriff’s officers determined that Sears was driving while intoxicated.

Along with his DWI charge, Sears was also charged for moving from a lane unsafely (a violation). He was processed, arraigned, released and is now set to appear in Cortlandville town court on Jan. 11.

Steve C. Barron, 42 of Ithaca, was found to be intoxicated following a traffic stop by officers on Route 281 in Cortlandville in the early morning of New Year’s Day. Barron was charged with multiple traffic violations and misdemeanors, including DWI, driving with .08 of 1 percent-or-more of alcohol, speeding in a zone, driving across hazardous markings, possession of an open container and for an inadequate muffler.

Barron was processed, arraigned and released with several traffic tickets, the report noted. He is due to appear in Cortlandville town court on Jan. 23.
