Cortland-Homer ice hockey appears in state rankings

The Cortland-Homer varsity ice hockey team appeared in the first week of state rankings set by the New York State Sportswriters Association.

The Golden Eagles (8-1) are fifth in the Division II rankings. Cortland-Homer’s next opponent is divisional opponent Skaneateles today at 7 p.m.

Other Section III Division II teams ranked in the state are Skaneateles (8-3) at No. 7 and Christian Brothers Academy/Jamesville-DeWitt (9-1) at No. 9. Division I squads in the section that are state-ranked are 2021-22 state runner-up West Genesee (9-1) at No. 3, and Baldwinsville (10-1) at No. 14.

Section VII’s Beekmantown and Section X’s Salmon River are tied atop the Division II state rankings.
